JOHN HOLMES
Everything Went Blacker
Format : CD
Catalogue # : HAUS065
Release Date : November 2003
Hailing from Leeds, UK, JOHN HOLMES are a blend of driving, brutal rock hardcore covered with reflections of anger and failed life opportunities in guttural anthemic chants. The band started life in 1998, initial conspirators were Bri Holmes (Manfat, Revolt) on Vocals, Dale Holmes (Manfat) on Guitar, Gords Holmes (Hard To Swallow) on Bass and last but by no means least, Sneda Holmes (Health Hazard, Suffer) on Drums.
Shows throughout the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland followed. Tours were booked with visiting Hardcore favourites DROP DEAD and HIS HERO IS GONE amongst others. With a consolidated set of songs, studio time was booked resulting in the El Louso Suavo LP/CD on Flat Earth and Devil Rock records.
Tours of Europe gathered a rocking response. A split 7" was released with local Leeds boys CANVAS, again released on Devil Rock, 2000 copies sold within 3 months proved the UKHC scene was alive and shit kicking. Entering the studio once more a split CD was released with cult instrumental doomsters the Kabinboy. At this point Sneda Holmes retired from the band and new boy, Mick Holmes was recruited. New blood and inspiration resulted in another European/Scandinavian assault, this time with the Kabinboy.
Upon arriving back home, new sights were set and Household Name were approached to release the next instalment in JOHN HOLMES history. With Johnny Carter and Paul Yeadon at the recording helm., the new album "Everything Went Blacker" came into existence. Alongside recording the band embarked on a UK tour with Boston band Converge destroying attitudes and eardrums as they played, and further shows followed with punk rock legends Poison Idea. The 'Holmes will be rocking across Europe and the UK once more in 2004
