CAPDOWN
Pound for the Sound
Format : CD and Download | LP (LP version deleted)
Catalogue # : HAUS043
Release Date : 10th September 2001
CAPDOWN further cemented their position as the most influential ska/punk band of a generation with this landmark album from 2001.
It kicks in with just what you'd expect from CAPDOWN but the tone is darker & the pace more controlled. Opener 'Faith No More' bears a passing resemblance to 'Ska Wars' from "Civil Disobedients" but thats as far as it goes. Tunes which are already live favourites like 'What doesn't Kill You' & 'Dealer Fever' sound just as vital on cd as on the stage. The country-skapunk shuffle of 'Time to Get Out' is light relief before 'Pound for The Sound' kicks in & theres still four tracks left!! Jake's lyrics are more incisive than before especially on track 4, 'Judgement Days' & the rhythm section of Tim & Boob is so tight its unreal.
"Capdown are no longer just another skacore band, if they ever were, this cd should put them up there as one of the best bands in Europe if not the World, no shit, it's that good, plus they seem to have dropped the cliched ska riffs, and the saxophone sound is better than ever. They are certainly learning their trade well and it's hard to pick a song out for praise as all eleven song are amazing and soon to be classic tracks." UK BASE website
