ADEQUATE SEVEN formed in Cardiff, South Wales in November 2000 and a month later the band played their first ever show. A hard-working punk ethic and a love of all things rock and groove, alongside passion for old skool hip hop, funk and hardcore punk influences gave ADEQUATE SEVEN a distinct sound. A debut 5-track demo/EP released on their own label Breaking World Records in February 2001 was snapped up at shows and mailorder. This, and a growing live reputation, brought them to the attention of Household Name Records who featured a track on the 2002 label sampler. Household Name Records released their debut album "Songs of Innocence and of Experience" (2003) to critical acclaim. ADEQUATE SEVEN toured steadily and built a solid fanbase through shows with bands like Hundred Reasons, Capdown, Fishbone, Lightyear, Red Lights Flash, Douglas and Five Knuckle and have also opened up for the internationally known artists of the likes of Cypress Hill, Biffy Clyro, The Slackers and Anti-Flag, even embarking on a full European tour with political ska-punks The Suicide Machines. ADEQUATE SEVEN have had significant radio support including recording a live session for the BBC Radio 1 evening session in Wales as well as sessions inthe BBC Maida Vale Studios for Mike Davies' The Lock-Up Show. ADEQUATE SEVEN left Household Name Records early in 2005, choosing to release their debut single "Splitting Up" on Audio Rehab - a predominantly drum & bass label but the arrangement didn't last long. In 2006 ADEQUATE SEVEN also released a new version of "Gotta Stay Focused" as a single and their second album "Here on Earth" on their own Breaking World Records in June 2006 and appeared at Reading/Leeds Festivals in August. However, after nearly 6 years the band decided to split six months later and played a farewell show in Cardiff on 10th December 2006. |
