HOUSEHOLD NAME RECORDS began in 1996 with a compilation to promote new UK bands that were out there playing and not getting releases out (not the most of original of starts, but you've gotta start somewhere)! That was going to be it - one release. However, because of the fun, friendship and education we gained from that we have continued putting out records to this day. Our basic ethos is that HOUSEHOLD NAME RECORDS is a label dedicated to the variety of sounds and styles that make up punk rock and hardcore. It is impossible to define a Household Name sound and that's the way it will stay. HOUSEHOLD NAME RECORDS is based in Brixton, South London, having evolved from the grimy underbelly of the London punk and independent gig scene. Founders Lil and Kafren were struck down with an addiction to releasing punk and hardcore records. Now completely hooked - we have to date struggled to bring to life nearly 100 releases, including CAPDOWN, FIVE KNUCKLE, LEFTOVER CRACK, HARD SKIN, THE KING BLUES, KNUCKLEDUST, MILLOY THE FILAMENTS, CAPTAIN EVERYTHING, SUICIDE BID, ADEQUATE SEVEN, ZATOPEKS and many more, making Household Name one of the most prolific UK labels on the punk/ hardcore underground. . Our desire is to be part of a vibrant and intelligent worldwide hardcore-punk-rock movement and that is what we aim to contribute to with our releases. Join us!
